So today to cheer myself up from this constant dreary weather ( didn’t I move to California for the sun?) I decided to plant a collection of dwarf succulents I purchased a few weeks ago into an old unused fountain.
About five years ago I bought myself this fountain and have carted it around ever since. I always dreamed it would fit perfectly on some wall in my garden but honestly it plugs in…it splatters everywhere…Its really never has been that awesome. BUT, it still looks cool so I wanted to do something with it.

I’ll use it as a planter!
First I thought Moss! moss would be great because there is no drainage but then I thought California 😦 it’s so dry here, I would forget to water, moss would die, and then I thought succulents! They hardly need watering and if I’m careful about over watering them, They’ll be just fine! I’m so clever 😛
If you want to copy this most awesome idea you are going to need:
- Some sort of wall mounted fountain
- dwarf succulents in whatever style you prefer
- potting soil
Go ahead and fill your fountain up with potting soil almost to the very top:
Then you want to shimmy your plants out of their store containers and separate the roots at the bottom:
Go ahead and arrange your plants in a pleasing way and then put extra soil in around them and water:
I don’t know if that one on the top will make it for the long haul but I shoved in there anyways:
Happy Planting!
