My Healthier State of Living, blah, blah, blah, Week 1 Update

Weekly Update

So sorry for my complete lack of posting in almost a week 😦 We recently made a flyby  trip to Redding to see some friends and family, so my update is not so spectacular. If your coming to the party late please see my previous post on My Quest for a Healthier State of Living

Week 1 Goals

  1. Be asleep no later than 11 most nights, preferably by 10:30.
  2. Wake by 6:30 am at the latest.
  3. Walk my dog every morning.
  4. Practice Yoga at least 3 times a week.
  5. Eat sensibly and regularly so I do not overeat by the end of the day.
  6. Practice Oil Pulling, Drink Lemon Water every morning, and enjoy Apple Cider Elixir ever afternoon.
  7. Take a nap when my body is telling me I need more rest.
  • I made it to bed most days last week by midnight. (So not a great start in that area, and now I have day light savings to contend with)
  • I woke up around 7:30, my children’s usually wake up call… (needs some work)
  • I walked my dog one evening with a friend. (starting to see a pattern here)
  • I practiced yoga 2 days out of my intended three. (not bad)
  •  I ate a lot at of everything, at every meal. (I have a problem)
  • I practiced oil pulling, lemon water, and apple cider elixir 4 days out of 7. (not bad)
  • I took some naps on the car trip (does that count?)

I think week two might just be a redo of week one so I will keep the goals the same. I am already halfway through week 2 so I better step up my game!

A Note on Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is the practice of swishing a 100% all natural vegetable oil around in your mouth from 15 to 20 minutes. This is an age-old process used to fight gum disease, reverse cavities, whiten teeth, detox the body, and to fight a range of illnesses. It is believed to boost your immune system function by pulling toxins out of your body through your mouth.

I am using a 100% extra virgin olive oil but would like to switch to either sesame oil or coconut oil. You can also use sunflower oil. You must make sure that it is pure unadulterated vegetable oil for it to do anything.

The first time I tried I had to spit the oil out after 5 minutes but I just tried again, Also my jaw got terribly tired. I found that I was trying to hard and that this also ups your gag reflex. The taste is not terrible but the consistency is something to get use to.

I have not noticed a great change in the whiteness of my teeth yet but I am optimistic. I will say that I have terrible dental health, I have 15 cavities all together and am in need of one root canal. My teeth ache on a regular basis, they give me headaches and pain my sinuses. The very first day of oil pulling my worst cavity felt cleaner that it has since before my second child was born. Within three days my whole mouth felt much cleaner and barely achy.

I have noticed terrible morning breath, which I don’t think I suffer from?… and I was unusually tired, and weak feeling. I think these are symptoms of detox?.. There are other factors as well, the lemon water, apple cider vinegar, and of course I am perpetually experiencing premenstrual syndrome…….

I will continue to practice all three, I figure it’s not hurting anything.

I will try to cover the benefits of lemon water and apple cider vinegar over the next couple of weeks.

Here is a candid shot of me sans makeup 🙂 I will post progress pictures to see how my teeth and skin are fairing.

*On another note*

I enjoyed a pleasant weekend with friends and family, got a small Mommy break from the in-laws, thank you. I feel positive about the future and I have a great new knife set to enjoy! Thanks Grammy! ♥♥♥

Till Next Week
